Graceful Quilting can provide you with any preparation services needed at $15.00/hour, however if you wish to minimize costs, here are some guidelines. · The backing and batting should be 6 inches wider and 6 inches longer than the top (backing and batting should extend 3 inches out from all sides of the quilt). · All three pieces of the quilt should be separate; meaning the top, backing and batting should not be basted, sandwiched or pinned together. Each component is mounted onto the machine separately. · Please mend any tears or holes in the seams. Clip any hanging threads. Make sure that the edges of all three pieces (top, backing and batting) are straight and corners are square. Also, be aware that if borders have been “walked” on, instead of measured to fit, it may cause wavy edges which will result in puckers and /or pleats in the quilting process. · Make sure that your quilt components are clean. Please press the quilt top and backing and hang them on a pants or skirt hanger. This way they will stay wrinkle free and further pressing will not be necessary. · Lastly, if the pattern of your quilt top has a top please mark it as such with a safety pin. *Should you have any questions regarding these guidelines, please contact us.
